The Three Greatest Moments In Nissan Qashqai Key Fob History

Reasons Why Your Nissan Qashqai Key Fob Won't Work

The Qashqai has a distinctly SUV-like appearance due to its bigger dimensions, and the ride on 19-inch wheels in Ti and ST-L models can be a bit firm at times. Its front tyres can also lose grip on rough surfaces, and its CVT can occasionally display wrist-flexing torque steer.

This is typically caused by a dead coin battery which can be replaced in just a few minutes. Make sure the replacement battery is of the same voltage, size and specifications.

Water Damage

One of the most frequent reasons that a Nissan key fob will give the "key ID is not correct" message is due to water damage. The key fob is fitted with rubber seals which protect the chip inside. However, prolonged exposure to moisture could cause it to cease functioning properly. It's normal to see this if your keyfob has been dropped into the water or in a swimming pool. However, it can happen when it gets wet from rain or soapy hand.

If your key fob has been exposed to water for an extended period of time, it might need to be cleaned using isopropyl alcohol or electronic cleaner. Or, it could need to be taken to a specialist for repair or replacement.

If your key fob need to be replaced, the procedure is relatively easy. First, make sure you have a multipack of the correct battery (CR2032 3V).  TheKeyLab  and front cases with a small flathead screwdriver. Remove the metal clips, take out the battery that was in place and replace it. Reassemble the fob and replace the mechanical key. Check to see if it functions properly. If it doesn't, you will need to bring it to a local Nissan dealer or an experienced auto locksmith to replace the chip that controls the key. Fortunately the chip isn't typically damaged by exposure to water, so this should not be a major expense.

Dead Coin Battery

The coin battery is another frequent reason why your Nissan Qashqai remote key fob might not function. The batteries typically last for 3-5 years, but they may fail over time, particularly if the fob is frequently dropped. You can replace the battery but make sure it is the same voltage and same size as the first. If you install a new battery, it could cause the key to be assigned a different key ID. This will prevent it from being paired with your vehicle.

The best method to replace the battery in the Nissan Qashqai key fob is by removing the fob with an small screwdriver that has a flat head. The screwdriver needs to be inserted into a small notch on the bottom of the key fob. Gently twist the screwdriver to separate the two halves. Then, remove the old CR2025 button cell battery and replace it with an alternative one after taking note of its location on the fob.

Before you put the new battery into place ensure that there isn't any dirt or water damage to the terminals. If there is, wash the terminals using a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. You'll also want to make sure the pole cables are connected correctly. They should be connected to the negative and positive poles of the battery, respectively.

Troubleshooting

If your Nissan Qashqai's main fob stops functioning after exposure to clean water from the tap or rain it could indicate that there's an issue with the internal chip. Change the battery won't fix this, and you'll have to purchase the new key fob. If the key fob stopped working after you dropped it, it's likely that the chip inside was damaged. You can usually get the key fob to function once more if you remove and clean the chip with alcohol and paper towels and then insert it back into.

A common error that you may see on the dashboard of your car is "Key ID Not Correct." This means that the car cannot recognize the key fob, and will not allow it to start the engine. The issue could be caused by many things such as water damage, undetectable issues in the key fob's circuitry, or RFID interference.

The key fob won't work if the 12 volt batteries are dead or fail to provide enough electric current. This could affect the Nissan Qashqai's remote keyless system central locking, as well as the capability to start the engine with the key fob. If you're unable unlock or lock the door by hand You should examine the batteries in your key fob and make sure they are in good condition. You can also try re-inserting the battery to reset the transmitter.

Reprogramming

If the key fob has not been submerged in salt water and is unable to be restored to its original state after a simple rinse with clean water. You can also clean the electronic chip using isopropyl or electronic cleaner. If none of these work It could be the time to replace the entire key fob with a new one.

If your Nissan Intelligent Key still does not function, there could be a connection issue between it and your vehicle. To relink it, start by turning the key into the ignition but without starting the car. Continue this process until the hazard light flashes two times. Turn off your vehicle and remove the key.

Open the fob compartment in your vehicle. It's usually located on a door jamb, or the handle of the driver's door. Find the small "program" button and press it. After the program is complete you will hear the sound of a chime.

Now that your Intelligent Key is relinked to the car It's time to test it out. Use all the buttons on the key while at a distance from the vehicle. If the lights flash or the horn sounds, then the key is connected to the Nissan. It is also possible to test it in close proximity.
